“There There is a sort of tribute to Laurent Garnier, particularly his Essential Mix from June 1994. This was a very important mix to me providing a contrast to techno tunnel vision that would dominate my listening habits for the following 6 years. I can whistle that mix from memory, the segment with Drivetrain and Shiver being my favourite. The synth sound at two and a half minute is my Angel Melodyhorn, a fun keyboard you play while blowing into it.
I took the opportunity on this EP to associate myself with two acts whose music I constantly return to. The first, Lerosa, I timed well because I got him just before he released a string of highly praised EP's. His remix displays that hard to date, hard to classify yet classic techno vibe Leo brings to his music. The second Whirling Hall Of Knives, or WHOK for short, is a joint project by The Last Sound and Magnetize, the former crafts luscious, grand in scale electronic music that some might call ambient, the latter is a fiercely individual and uncompromising techno producer.”
